The Community Muse Board
The Community Muse Board (CMB) is a key participatory body within the EuroMuse project, designed to connect museums with diverse audiences and ensure that visitors’ needs, perspectives, and experiences shape the development of innovative museum practices.
Bringing together museum professionals, educators, artists, researchers, cultural practitioners, and representatives of local communities, the CMB serves as an inclusive platform for dialogue, collaboration, and co-creation.
EUROMUSE is a Creative Europe Cooperation Project
The Community Muse Board plays a central role in fostering a more open, accessible, and audience-informed museum environment. Its mission is to:
- Provide insights and feedback on visitor experience and public needs
- Support the development of inclusive, sound-based interpretive strategies
- Contribute to the design and evaluation of synomusic and its impact on museum audiences
- Strengthen the relationship between museums and local communities
- Promote participatory museum practices and intercultural exchange
- Ensure that the project’s outputs reflect real user experiences and societal needs
What CMB Does
The CMB supports the EuroMuse project through continuous involvement in:
1. Consultation & Dialogue
Members meet regularly with museum teams to offer perspectives on exhibitions, sound design, accessibility, and overall visitor engagement.
2. Evaluation & Feedback
CMB participants take part in testing sessions, focus groups, and audience research activities, helping to assess the effects of synomusic and other interpretive tools.
3. Community Engagement
By representing a wide spectrum of visitors and cultural communities, the CMB contributes to building stronger community relationships and increasing inclusion.
4. Co-Creation & Innovation
Members collaborate with curators, composers, and researchers to propose new approaches, formats, and ideas for sound-enhanced museum experiences.
Why It Matters
The EuroMuse Community Muse Board ensures that the project is grounded in real-world needs, diverse perspectives, and user-centered insights.
It directly supports:
- Audience development
- Cultural accessibility
- Innovative museum practices
- Evidence-based research
- Enhancing the emotional and cognitive experience of museum visitors through sound and music.
A New Model for the Future of Museums
The CMB represents an innovative framework for European museums — a model where community voices, artistic research, and scientific evidence come together to shape new cultural practices. Through this collaborative structure, EuroMuse aims to build a sustainable network of “sound-empowered museums” across Europe and beyond
