The EUROMUSE Open Call for Young Composers confirmed the strong international relevance of the project and the growing interest in new forms of applied music for museums, cultural heritage interpretation and audience experience.
A strong international response to the EUROMUSE Open Call
The EUROMUSE Open Call invited young composers to take part in a Creative Europe-supported process of creating original music for museum spaces. The call was based on the SYNOMUSIC® methodology and the EUROMUSE model of collaboration between museums, composers, researchers and audiences.
The response exceeded expectations: EUROMUSE received 110 applications from 25 countries across Europe and the world. This result demonstrated that composing original music for museums is recognized as an innovative, contemporary and internationally relevant artistic field.
The Open Call was not only a selection process, but also an important step in building an international network of young composers interested in applied music, museum sound, audience experience and new models of cultural heritage interpretation.

From Open Call to museum synocompositions
Following the evaluation process, six composers were selected to work with three European museums in Italy, Greece and Portugal. Through training, museum residencies, dialogue with curators and audience-oriented creative work, the selected composers developed six original synocompositions for museum spaces.

International call
Young composers were invited to apply for a new Creative Europe-supported museum music process.
Evaluation
Applications were reviewed in relation to artistic quality, motivation and relevance for museum contexts.
Residencies
Selected composers worked inside partner museums, exploring objects, narratives, space and audiences.
Synocompositions
Six original works were created and later presented through concerts, digital formats and the EUROMUSE album.

Open Call as a long-term EUROMUSE result
The number and diversity of applications showed that EUROMUSE has the potential to grow into a wider European and international platform for connecting composers, museums, cultural institutions and audiences.
The Open Call results also demonstrate that original music for museums can become a powerful field of artistic innovation, audience development and international cultural exchange. The selected compositions became one of the central artistic results of the project and were later presented through online concerts, museum activities, the EUROMUSE Vol. 01 album and digital project platforms.
EUROMUSE continues to build a new field of music for museums
The Open Call results confirmed the need for a wider international platform dedicated to composers, museums, audiences and new forms of cultural heritage interpretation.
