As part of the EUROMUSE project, composers Nataša Jevtić and Rafaelos Christofi recently completed a week-long residency at the Museu de Arte Pré-Histórica e do Sagrado do Vale do Tejo in Mação, Portugal. This immersive experience allowed the composers to deeply engage with the region’s extraordinary natural and cultural heritage.
During their residency, Nataša and Rafaelos explored local archaeological sites, captured ambient and ritual sounds unique to the area, and interacted with museum staff as well as the local community. Drawing inspiration from the landscape, ancient artifacts, and living traditions, they began crafting original compositions that reflect the sonic textures of both place and history.
These new works will become a permanent part of the museum’s synocomposition, enriching the visitor experience and forging a powerful connection between the past and present through music. This residency exemplifies EUROMUSE’s mission to integrate contemporary sound creation with Europe’s cultural heritage, fostering innovative and lasting forms of audience engagement.
Stay tuned for further updates as EUROMUSE composers continue to create and inspire across Europe!
