As part of the EUROMUSE project, composers John Konsolakis and Maia Steinberg recently completed a seven-day residency at Explora – Il Museo dei Bambini di Roma. This immersive experience allowed the composers to engage deeply with the museum’s unique environment, focusing on the playful synocompositions that define the space.
During their residency, John and Maia observed how children interact with the museum’s interactive exhibits, drawing inspiration from the creativity and curiosity of the young visitors. The vibrant atmosphere of Rome itself also served as a source of creative energy, influencing the development of their original musical compositions.
The works created during this residency will form a unique sonic layer within the museum, designed to enrich the experience of young visitors and foster new connections between sound, space, and learning. This initiative is part of EUROMUSE’s broader mission to integrate applied music into museums, enhancing audience engagement and creating memorable, multisensory experiences.
Stay tuned for more updates as the EUROMUSE composers continue their residencies across Europe!
